STUDENT JOURNALS

The student journal project was created as a strategic response to the negative effects of the pandemic on student communication. The disconnect from their communities such as school, playdates, clubs, after school programming threatened their social development. Journaling has a way of evoking reflection; mindfulness and helps writers connect to the core of their emotions while remaining present. Journaling allows for constant and consistent emotional regulation. It also provides a window into a closed area of expression for added support and social emotional development.

“It was my first timing writing in a journal and this way allowed me to express my feelings very easily.”
